PRESIDENT MESSAGE
Warm greetings from Rotary Mettupalayam and welcome you to our club website. Recording and retrieving is also as important as thinking, saying and doing. I invite you all to this website. This year 2020-21 is an important year as our club has entered 60th year. Our past leaders have done a great service to town Mettupalayam and surrounding community by starting and running an excellent Metro Matriculation school, Gas crematorium, Autism center, Clock tower of high quality at bus stand, a prosthetic hand fitment center and maintenance of Gandhi statue.
Our last year projects, HEAL and CARE by Rtn Suresh Anandakrishnan and Rtn Jayakumar as chairman are excellent service projects. Our IPP Rtn Dr Vijayagiri participation in the VTT visit and service to the poor people at Nigeria has enhanced our club name not only in the district but also in the International level.
This year our RI President Rtn Holger Knaack has selected this year’s theme as Rotary Opens Opportunities. This appears to be true as we are utilising the opportunity of attending trainings, seminars and meetings in web via Zoom. These are very useful to know about Rotary and services. We may know the Core values of Rotary they are, Service, Diversity, Integrity, Fellowship and Leadership. We must know it and fully follow it.
This year Rotary International added one more Area of Focus in addition to the existing six. That Supporting the Environment. The existing six are 1. Maternity and Child health 2. Basic Education and Literacy. 3 Disease prevention and treatment 4. Community and economic development 5. Water and Sanitation 6. Peace building and conflict prevention.
We are also interested and planning to do projects in water and sanitation. Everything is possible with interest and involvement by our team.
